Ru (Paoli), a pretty young girl with a high-profile job who is traumatised because her British fiance has ditched her just one day before their marriage by simply dropping her a one-line email. She stops going to work, stops communicating with her affectionate older brother (Shankar Chakraborty) and his wife (Debjani Chatterjee), and keeps to herself even when they take her to Lataguri and Gorumara forests for a brief holiday. Ru refuses to come out of her depression but her brother and his wife, accompanied by the wife's uncle and aunt, enjoy the fresh mountain air and its surroundings. Another young couple, who have run away from their homes for an intimate rendezvous, is a needless diversion. Chiling (Shaheb Bhattacharya), the Sikkimese driver, tries to bring some cheer in Ru's life and takes her on a long drive to his home on the Bengal-Sikkim border. She smiles for the first time and is enchanted not only by the picturesque surroundings she feels is 'heaven on earth' but also by the simplicity of Chilling and his widowed mother who is a Bengali. Then, just before they are to set back for the resort, Ru walks away, leaving her bag and shoes on the parapet from where she went ecstatic over the Kanchenjunga peeping out from behind the clouds.Show more
