Gopi, a young man who owes money to many loan sharks, tries to end his life by jumping into the sea. As luck would have it, he is saved by Gangadhar, a fisherman who himself owes money to Punjabi Saheb. To avoid being caught, Gopi pretends to be deaf and mute, while Gangadhar tries to take advantage of Gopi to pay off his debts.
